Since then, it has been produced 14 more times worldwide. Now, a brand-new staging is coming to the U.K. and Ireland for a six-month run—8 weeks at London’s Barbican Theatre followed by a four-month tour across the U.K. Details below.
About the Musical:
"Fiddler on the Roof" is a celebrated musical that tells the story of Tevye, a Jewish milkman in the village of Anatevka, at the turn of the 20th century. He strives to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters, who wish to marry for love, each choice moving further away from the customs of their faith. The musical explores themes of tradition, family, love, prejudice, and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of social and political upheaval, including the looming threat of pogroms. The narrative is enriched by iconic songs such as "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," "Tradition," and "Matchmaker," and features Jerome Robbins’ renowned choreography, including the famous bottle dance. This particular production is Jordan Fein’s acclaimed revival, noted for balancing innovation with tradition, and has received widespread critical acclaim.
